Established in 2011, the Association for Computational Linguistics Fellows program recognizes ACL members whose contributions to the field have been most extraordinary. The Computer Science Department is pleased to announce that Dr. Janyce Wiebe has been granted Fellow status, in recognition of her seminal contributions to Subjectivity and Sentiment analysis, Discourse Processing, and Lexical Semantics. Dr. Wiebe joins the ranks of the 2011-2014 Fellows recognized as ACL's distinguished members, as listed on the ACL Wiki at:

Professor Alexandros Labrinidis recently joined the Editorial Board of the Very Large Databases Journal as an Associate Editor. Published on behalf of the VLDB Endowment, this journal contains scholarly contributions that examine information system architectures, the impact of technological advancements on information systems, and the development of novel database applications.

We are excited to announce that Dr. Milos Hauskrecht has been promoted to Full Professor. Dr. Hauskrecht received his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997 and received his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Slovak Technical University in 1988. He is an expert in Machine Learning. His primary research interest is Artificial Intelligence but he is also interested in the intersection of Computer Science with other fields, such as statistics and operations research. He is currently researching the applications of AI in medicine and finance. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Hauskrecht on his promotion!
