Two Writing Internships at the Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science in the School of Computing and Information seeks to fill two paid writing internships for the Fall 2020 term. The interns would be an integral part of the department’s publicity team as we embark on a website redesign and social media revamp project. We are looking for undergraduate students with excellent writing abilities, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and, preferably, knowledge of technical topics. All the work will be done remotely.

Position #1: Writing Intern ($12/hour, 10-15 hours/week, flexible schedule)

  • The majority of the intern’s time will be devoted to writing new stories and blog posts for the departmental web site and newsletter. The intern will also provide support in migrating existing content from the current website to the new website.
  • Required skills: Excellent writing and proofreading ability, organizational skills and attention to detail, working as part of a team, ability to meet deadlines, and writing both long-form and short-form stories (ranging from 280 characters to 1,000 words).
  • Very desirable skills: Interest in computer science and technology. Understanding of technical topics.

Position #2: Social Media Intern ($12/hour, 10-15 hours/week, flexible schedule)

  • The majority of the intern’s time will be devoted to writing short-form stories and posting them on different social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Required skills: Excellent writing and proofreading ability, organizational skills and attention to detail, working as part of a team, ability to meet deadlines, and writing both long-form and short-form stories (ranging from 280 characters to 1,000 words).
  • Very desirable skills: Interest in computer science and technology. Understanding of technical topics. Familiarity with social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
